I've given you a series of sporting events, but can you correctly guess in which year they happened?

Mike Atherton scored 93 as Lancashire defeated Kent in the Benson and Hedges Cup final at Lords

Blackburn Rovers won the Premier League

 

2) Man United defeated Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League on penalties.

In the UCI Track Cycling World Championships Chris Hoy won the men’s sprint and Victoria Pendleton the women’s sprint titles

The inaugural Indian Premier League was won by the Rajasthan Royals.

 

3) In the World Figure Skating Championship Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean were the ice dancing champions

Aldaniti ridden by Bob Champion won the Grand National

The year Botham hit an improbable 149 to set up a slender lead and then Bob Willis took 8 for 43 to defeat the Australians

 

4) Alan Shearer retired from playing football

In Rugby League, St Helens beat Hull FC at Old Trafford to win their 12th championship in the Super League Grand Final.

Commonwealth Games were held in Melbourne

 

5) In this years Euro’s France beat Italy 2-1 with Trezeguet scoring the golden goal in extra time.

Tiger Woods won the US Open by a record 15 shots finishing 12 under par.

Jonathan Edwards and Denise Lewis won gold at this year's Olympics in the Triple Jump and Heptathlon respectively.

 

6) Joe Montana was the MVP as San Francisco 49ers beat Denver Broncos 55-10

Commonwealth Games were held in Auckland New Zealand

In one of the biggest upsets ever, Buster Douglas defeated Mike Tyson by a knockout in round 10
