Below are a series of 3 events from a particular year, but can you work out which? I suggest 2 points for the correct year and 1 point if you're only one year out.

I've repeated the clues below along with the answers.

1) A series of bombings hit the egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh with over 80 killed.

Hurricane Katrina hit the US Gulf coast killing over a thousand people and causing over $100 billion in damage.

Liverpool FC won the UEFA Champions league beating AC Milan

 

2) Mark Thatcher, the son of the then Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, went missing on the Dakar rally and was found a few days later.

Racing driver, Giles Villeneuve, was killed during qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix.

Argentina invaded the Falkland Islands when their forces landed near Stanley.

 

3) Edward Heath resigned as Prime Minister following a hung parliament and was succeeded by Harold Wilson

Victoria Beckham was born

ABBA won the Eurovision Song Contest with ‘Waterloo’

 

4) Figure skater, Nancy Kerrigan, was attacked by someone hired by her rival, Tonya Harding’s ex-husband.

Schindler’s List wins seven oscars including Best Picture and Best Director for Steven Spielberg

The FIFA World Cup was held in the USA with Brazil defeating Italy in the final.

 

5) The Beatles released their 12th and final album ‘Let it be’

‘The Goodies’ made their debut on BBC 2

Jimi Hendrix died aged just 27.

 

6) The International Garden Festival opened in Liverpool.

Carl Lewis equalled Jesse Owens record when he won 4 Gold medals at the Olympics this year.

The Miners went on a year long strike in the UK
